As members of the local organizing committee, we have arranged a special lecture (approximately 60 minutes) by Professor Tetsuo Irifune of the Geodynamics Research Center.
Professor Irifune is one of Ehime University’s most distinguished researchers and conducts cutting-edge work that is of great interest to the Atomic Energy Society of Japan. Specializing in high-pressure geosciences, he elucidates the Earth's internal structure through experiments that replicate the high-pressure, high-temperature conditions found deep within the planet, while also developing new materials through the application of ultra-high-pressure technology. In this lecture, he will discuss the development of materials such as nano-polycrystalline diamond "Hime-dia" which boasts the world's highest hardness and transparent nanoceramics (TNC).
