A certain amount of residual water is remaining inside the spent adsorbent containers that was used for radioactive water treatment at Fukushima Daiichi. Drying the adsorbents is expected to eliminate the risk of container corrosion and leaks caused by this residual water. While vacuum drying offers advantages such as fast drying times and the ability to dry at relatively low temperatures, many aspects remain unclear. In this report, we conducted drying simulations of the adsorbent container to verify the underlying principles and identify optimal drying conditions. Additionally, to determine the thermal conductivity of the adsorbent required for these simulations, we designed and fabricated a specialized apparatus to measure it using moisture content as a parameter.
