[2A_PL01] Summary of the Background and Events of the Formation of Design Basis Earthquake Ground Motion at the Hamaoka Nuclear Power Station

In response to the inappropriate practices identified in January 2026 regarding the establishment of the Design Basis Ground Motion for Chubu Electric Power Company’s Hamaoka Nuclear Power Station, the AESJ Board issued a statement on January 20, 2026. This session will examine the case from industry, regulatory, and academic perspectives, promote a shared understanding of the facts, and discuss how the Society should address the issue and guide future debate.
