Zeolite immersion tests exhibited that Sr, once adsorbed onto zeolite, is released into salt along with adsorption of Ce present in salt. To understand this behavior, a model was constructed in which amount of Sr adsorbed onto zeolite decreases when amount of Ce adsorbed onto zeolite reaches a certain threshold. Here, this threshold was determined by fitting to experimental results. As a result, a threshold that can reproduce test results for both high and low concentrations of Ce and Sr in the salt was found. In both cases, the decrease in Sr adsorption was slower in experiments than in calculations, suggesting that opposite directions of adsorption of Ce and release of Sr resulted in the slower release rate of Sr.
