At accidents of offshore floating nuclear power plants (OFNPs), releases of fission products (FP) through the ocean are regarded as a new problem. However, release directly to the ocean from existing land-built nuclear power plants have not been considered. In this study, to assess the environmental impact of FP releases from an OFNP under accidental conditions, a coupled modeling framework integrating off-site consequence analysis code for atmospheric release in reactor accident (OSCAAR) and regional ocean modeling system (ROMS) is developed. ROMS is used for simulating oceanic environments, while OSCAAR assesses atmospheric release and dispersion of FP. OSCAAR is coupled with ROMS to account for FP inflow to enable an analysis of dispersion behavior between atmospheric and oceanic pathways.
