Based on the facility design concept for the intermediate depth disposal (IDD) facility, the authors have previously conducted safety assessments of design alternatives using a probabilistic safety assessment method. The results were organized using the mean of peaks (MoP) and coefficient of variation (CoV), which were set as the maximum values for each dose assessment. Based on these results, we have considered the concept of how to select a "good design" for IDD. In this paper, we compare and evaluate design alternatives using the probabilistic approach outlined in the AESJ Standard: Method of Safety Assessment of Low-Level Radioactive Waste Disposal Facility - IDD: 2023. We then discuss and demonstrate the usefulness of organizing the results using MoP and CoV.
