Accurate measurement of public opinion is essential when considering future directions in nuclear energy policy, and one central issue in survey design is whether to include a “Don’t Know (DK)” response option. While previous studies often excluded non-substantive responses such as “DK responses” or “no response” from analysis, recent research has argued that such responses may carry meaningful information. Therefore, this study examined whether the presence or absence of a DK option affects public opinion estimates by applying logistic regression analysis and chi-square tests. The analysis showed no significant differences at the overall level; however, variations were observed within certain demographic groups depending on the availability of the DK option.
