This study aims to design a neutron moderation system for epithermal neutron beam generation in BNCT using the compact neutron source RANS-II, to develop a compact BNCT experimental facility. Based on the primary neutron spectrum characteristics of RANS-II, we investigated an optimal moderator configuration that maintains the epithermal neutron flux while reducing fast and thermal neutrons. Monte Carlo simulations with PHITS were conducted to compare moderator candidates, and evaluations were performed using fast neutron contamination, thermal neutron contamination, and epithermal neutron flux. As a result, the configuration of 20-cm CaF2, 10-cm MgF2, and 2-cm LiF was found to effectively suppress unnecessary fast and thermal neutrons while preserving the epithermal component, achieving beam quality suitable for BNCT.
