Mechanisms of longevity and disease resistance in the naked mole-rat, the rodent adapted to subterranean environments

On Earth, a rich diversity of life thrives even in extreme environments. For instance, some animals can temporarily halt growth and development to endure harsh conditions, possessing mechanisms to delay aging, resist cancer, and adjust their activity-rest cycles. This symposium will bring together researchers from various fields to discuss how animals overcome extreme conditions such as cold, hypoxia, drought, and starvation. Advancements in these studies could reveal exceptional environmental adaptation abilities in animals, offering new perspectives on human health and medicine. Through this symposium, we aim to deepen our understanding of animals' physiological responses and adaptive processes in extreme environments and explore the potential applications of these findings in the future.
