High-throughput absolute quantification method using cell-free protein synthesis and mass spectrometry (MS-QBiC)

Peptides and hormones play a central role in regulating various physiological processes in organisms, including growth and development, reproduction, feeding behavior, and digestion and absorption. The elucidation of the regulatory mechanisms of physiological processes by peptides and hormones is pursued from multiple perspectives using a wide variety of disciplines such as physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and advanced measurement techniques. The results of these studies have extended their influence not only to the medical field but also to various industrial fields, and their practical applications are expected to expand further in the future. In this symposium, we will present the latest findings on endocrine system regulation in development, feeding behavior, and sexual maturation research. We will also introduce how peptide hormone research can be applied to the fisheries industry, exploring the potential for new industrial applications. Additionally, we will discuss MS-QBiC, a novel technique for the absolute quantification of peptides and proteins, and explore the development of peptide and hormone research utilizing state-of-the-art technology.
