The diverse pharmacological actions of ephedrine alkaloids-free Ephedra Herb extract

As society ages, extending healthy life expectancy has become a major concern. From self-medication for health maintenance to therapeutic drugs, a wide range of pharmaceutical care is increasingly necessary. Natural products remain a treasure trove of undiscovered activities, and recent advancements in analytical and evaluative techniques unravel their potential. Moreover, natural products have an advantage of multiple output options under the Borderline of Pharmaceuticals to Non-pharmaceuticals. Therefore, studies envisioning concretely social implementation generate a new modality of drug discovery. In this symposium, leading researchers who tackle refractory diseases had gathered. Topics include the mechanism study of Polygala Root extract for neurodegenerative diseases (Kuboyama), developing drugs aimed at extending healthy lifespan and establishing a platform that covers from cultivation to social implementation (Shuto), diverse effects of ephedrine-free Ephedra extract (Hyuga), and the improvement of dementia by Dioscorea Rhizome extract and its mechanism of neural circuit repairing (Tohda). Methodologies and prospects of research aiming for global health will be presented and discussed.
