Since the foundation of national university corporation, the dual support system of operating expense grant and Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research and Education (KAKENHI), which is the basis of university research and education, has collapsed, resulting in a research environment where the breadth and diversity of bottom up-basic research based on free ideas is lost and new research is unlikely to sprout. This fact will have an impact on the education of students and, in the future, will have a significant effect on the nation's strength. Therefore, we believe that it is necessary for members of the three academic societies to share information and exchange opinions on the state of basic research funding, and as a joint project of the Academic Research Committee of the three academic societies at APPW2025, we are planning a panel discussion (60-minute slot).
