[1S07e]Prospects for the Future: Exploring New Horizons in Biological Hierarchical Understanding through Functional Morphological Fusion

Mon. Mar 17, 2025 3:40 PM - 5:30 PM JST
Mon. Mar 17, 2025 6:40 AM - 8:30 AM UTC
Room 7
Oranizers :Yasu-Taka Azuma (Laboratory of Prophylactic Pharmacology, Graduate School of Veterinary Science, Osaka Metropolitan University ) and Hideaki Tagashira (Department of Integrative Physiology, Graduate School of Medicine, Akita University)
In recent years, societal expectations for university-based fundamental research have diversified. Researchers are now required to prioritize projects with clear social benefits, especially in the context of persistent refractory diseases lacking complete cures. Understanding disease mechanisms and proposing drug targets are more critical than ever. Therefore, establishing platforms to showcase university research outcomes related to pathophysiology and drug discovery has become paramount. This symposium aims to address these needs by bringing together four experts specializing in the cardiovascular, oral, endocrine, and digestive systems. These experts will present the latest insights from their research, which spans the functional and morphological analysis of biological systems and links these findings to disease pathophysiology. Through these presentations, we aim to foster a comprehensive understanding of the hierarchical and integrative nature of biological systems, from cells to tissues and organs, and discuss the mechanisms underlying the disruption of homeostasis. To ensure diversity, the symposium chair and speakers were meticulously selected, including three speakers around 40 years old, at the apex of their research careers. To facilitate richer discussions and mitigate potential communication issues, presentations will be conducted in Japanese.
