当研究クループでは、微細孔集積基板のキャピラリープレート (Capillary plate: CP)孔内にモノリス構造を持つシリカを充填したデバイスを開発し、単一細胞の分泌タンパク質解析に利用してきた。しかし、モノリスシリカ充填工程は2日間を要し、煩雑かつ労働集約的であることが課題であった。そこで、簡易迅速な充填物としてシリカビーズに注目し、シリカビーズ充填CPの作製、性能評価を行った。
