現在臨床利用されている抗がん剤は、副作用という問題を有している。この原因は、これらががん細胞だけでなく正常細胞にも作用することが挙げられる。そこで我々は、正常細胞とは異なるがん細胞の微小環境下でのみ細胞毒性を発現する金属錯体の開発に取り組んできた。今回、がん細胞中に高い濃度で存在する抗酸化物質と反応して活性酸素種を生成することで、がん細胞選択的な細胞毒性を引き起こす金属錯体を開発したので報告する。
