Central challenge in the growth of semiconductor nanowires is to understand the processes that occur during crystallization. However, the growth of these materials is commonly performed in closed systems. Here I present an approach to conducting III-V nanowire growth in situ using an environmental TEM (ETEM) allowing us to observe growth in real time.
