Despite the promise of ZnS:Cu microparticles for deformable optoelectronics, their underlying electroluminescence mechanisms remain ambiguous. Employing advanced nanoscale characterization (APT and TEM), this study elucidates the functional role of ZnS polytypism, necessitating a fundamental revision of established theoretical models.
