ISHOC-2026

Scope

The ISHOC-2026 symposium aims to exchange and discuss the current research and latest scientific knowledge on high-temperature materials and their degradation by corrosion and oxidation. Another important aspect of this symposium is to keep our networks and collaborations.

As increasing alarm over the current energy crisis of fossil fuels has generated a strong demand of renewable alternatives to carbon dioxide mitigation and sustainable developments, we are facing large transition to energy production to achieve a low-carbon society. Thus, exchanging opinion toward the future direction in this filed is an important purpose in this symposium. In addition to the traditional focus areas of coatings and environmental effects, we also invite papers that highlight alloy design for high-temperature materials that contribute to balancing the oxidation/corrosion resistance and mechanical performance. Surface treatments and materials processing with hot gas reaction such as pack cementation, carburizing and nitriding are also keen as application of high-temperature oxidation/corrosion. Other important topics for ISHOC-2026 include;

  • Fundamentals
    a. Initial oxidation, transient oxidation etc.
    b. Mechanical aspects of oxidation/corrosion
    c. Corrosion in complex gas atmospheres(H2O, SO2, CO2, HCl, H2S, NH3...)
    d. Corrosion with molten salts, molten metals etc.
    e. Modeling, lifetime prediction, materials informatics
  • Oxidation/corrosion of ceramics and composites
  • Oxidation/corrosion during materials process
  • Materials processing via hot gas reaction such as pack cementation, carburizing and nitriding
  • Advanced sensing and characterization technology
