In this study, we examine the variations of the Fo contents of olivine and Cr# of chromian spinel in dunite and wehrlite of Group I in alkali basalt from the Kabeshima island, Saga Prefecture. The Fo contents and the Cr# of chromian spinel are 86.8–87.8 and 0.61–0.63, respectively, in dunites, and 86.9–88.6 and 0.35–0.50 in wehrlites. Those values are included in the ranges of equivalent rocks from the Takashima xenolith suite. Based on the results, we suggest that the underlying upper mantle is similar in petrological characteristics between Kabeshima and the nearby Takashima area.
