Conflict of Interest

At the 66th Annual Conference of the Japan Ergonomics Society, all lead presenters and co-presenters who have a Conflict of Interest (COI) to disclose are required to declare and disclose their COI regarding “financial relationships with companies, corporate organizations, or for-profit organizations related to the research in question” for their abstracts at the time of abstract registration and at the time of presentation. COI declaration and disclosure of COI is required for abstract registration and at the time of presentation. Please see below for details.
1. COI disclosure guidelines
The following are guidelines for disclosure of COI with companies, corporate organizations, or for-profit organizations related to the abstract to be presented. The person submitting the abstract should declare and answer on behalf of the applicant.
1) Disclosure guidelines
- Receives more than ¥1,000,000 per year from one company/organization.
- You hold more than ¥1,000,000 per year from one company/organization or more than 5% of the shares of such company/organization.
- Receives annual patent royalties of JPY 1,000,000 or more per year from one company or organization.
- Receives annual speaking fees totaling 500,000 yen or more from a single company or organization.
Receives an annual total of 500,000 yen or more in manuscript fees from one company/organization. - Has received research funds or grants totaling 1,000,000 yen or more from a single company or organization that have been actually allocated as research contract funds for which the first presenter or co-presenter has substantial discretion over the use of the funds.
- There is a scholarship (incentive) donation of 1,000,000 yen or more that has been actually allocated to the department (course, laboratory, etc.) with which the first presenter or co-presenter shares the scholarship donation from a single company or organization with research contract funds that the first presenter or co-presenter can practically decide how to spend the donation.
- In the case of an endowed chair, there is a company that has donated 1,000,000 yen or more of the donation that has actually been allocated in donation funds that can substantially determine the use of the donation.
- Receives travel expenses, gifts, etc. of 50,000 yen or more per year from a single company or organization.
2) Examples of disclosures
(1) Research conducted solely by company personnel
A: COI: “None” if the research is conducted solely with funds from a company
(2) Joint research with a company or academia
A: Please check if the disclosure guideline applies to your research proposal
(3) When the person from the company is a working donor and jointly named with the supervising professor
A: Please check if the guideline for disclosure applies to your research proposal.
If the research is not funded by the company, select COI: “None” because it is not applicable to the guideline for disclosure.
(4) When the person from the company is a working donor and the jointly-named supervisor and the company are conducting joint research
A: Please list the affiliation of the first author with both the university and the company, and confirm whether the disclosure guideline applies to the research topic.

2. COI registration and statement at the time of presentation
Please register your COI status by selecting either COI or no COI from the dedicated form at the time of abstract registration as a preliminary declaration.
Regardless of whether or not you have a COI status, you will be asked to disclose your COI status on your presentation slides on the day of your presentation.
Please prepare the COI status disclosure slide in reference to the following, and include it at the beginning of your presentation slide (the slide following the title page).
