To achieve high strength and ductility in Mg alloys, Mg-Sc-Y aging alloys were investigated. Aging behavior and mechanical properties of bcc single-phase and hcp+bcc two-phase alloys were evaluated. The two-phase alloy achieved both high strength and excellent ductility due to hcp precipitation hardening and strain relaxation by retained hcp.
