By applying solution treatment to Al-6.0Zn-0.79Mg, furnace cooled or water quenched sample was prepared. These samples reveal a large hardness difference. Clustering and precipitation behaviors are quantified using small angle neutron scattering, and the effects of clusters on the hardness or strength are discussed.
