Slab-derived fluids cause slow earthquakes and mantle-derived hot springs in Southwest Japan arc. In this study, the relationship between the locations of slow earthquakes and the mantle-derived hot springs in Southwest Japan is studied. Spacial correlation is evaluated between the number of slow earthquakes (National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Prevention database) and Li/Cl values ratios of mantle-derived hot springs (AIST Deep Groundwater database). When the locations of slow earthquake are shifted 7 km to the south, the correlation is the largest. This indicates that the mantle-derived hot springs are located to the south of the region where the slow earthquakes are occurring (Figure).

Explanation of figure.
