Solid Earth sciences play an important role in achieving the SDGs in securing mineral, energy, and water resources, carbon capture and storage, geological disposal of high-level radioactive waste, disaster mitigation for earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and landslides. Integrated viewpoints of SDGs are, in turn, suggestive for the development of Earth and planetary science as a system science. The closer connection of academia to economic and social activities such as ESG investment will strengthen international competitiveness. Based on this recognition, we would like to provide topics that match the scope of this session.
