Ariel (Atmospheric Remote-sensing Infrared Exoplanet Large-survey) is an ESA-led space telescope project dedicated for exoplanet spectroscopic transit observations. Ariel has been selected for ESA / M4 (2020) and its launch is scheduled for 2029. Based on technical heritages in Japan, the Japanese team are in charge of developing calcium fluoride optical devices for AIRS (infrared spectrometer).
