Supported Au catalysts were prepared by deposition precipitation (DP) and sol immobilization (SI) methods, and evaluated by the oxidative esterification of dimethylacetal of methyl 5-formylfuran-2-carboxylate in MeOH. The catalyst prepared using the SI method exhibited higher catalytic activity than the other. The difference in the catalytic activities among the catalysts was discussed based on the detailed characterization results of the selected catalyst.
