Conversion of CO2 to formic acid using recovered silicon from waste PV panel was investigated. Catalytic amount of tetrabutylammonium fluoride accelerated this reaction. Both recovered silicon from PV panel through thermal treatment and physical separation could be used as reducing agents. In addition, CO2 conversion with silicon reducing agent occurred even with a simulated exhaust gas containing approximately 14% CO2 or actual exhaust gas recovered from a thermal power plant.
