Formic acid can be obtained by the CO2 hydrogenation with renewable H2. In other words, CO2 can be used as a resource. Nowadays, formic acid has been considered as a hydrogen carrier, but it can also be used to produce CO by dehydration reaction. If CO can be selectively produced from formic acid, it would lead to further utilization of formic acid. The dehydration of formic acid is catalyzed by Brønsted acid in general. In this study, we investigated the selective dehydration of formic acid using inexpensive and widely available zeolites.
