[2A04] Two-step depolymerization of lignin to produce vanillins

Oxidative depolymerization of lignin can produce valuable products such as vanillins and lactic acid, but the product yield is low due to the product polymerization reaction also proceeds competitively. In this study, we developed a two-steps depolymerization system of lignin.First, vanillins and lactic acid were selectively obtained by lignin oxidative depolymerization. Then, a two-step depolymerization, including basic hydrolysis reactions, was carried out on the recovered oxidized lignin to improve the yield of vanillins.
