[2B17]Development of BaZrO3-xNy-supported Ni catalysts for ammonia decomposition

In this study, we synthesized BaZrO3-xNy by substituting O sites in BaZrO3 with nitrogen. This oxynitride exhibited higher conversion rates with much lower activation energy than Ni-supported oxide catalysts. Experimental methods and DFT calculations revealed that nitrogen vacancies function as reaction sites and greatly enhance the ammonia decomposition reaction with the aid of Ni.
