Bottlebrush polymers (BBPs) are promising materials owing to their controlled direction of side arms connected to the polymer main chain, and the method by adopting the (living) ring opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) of norbornene macromonomers has been well known. We herein present the successful stereospecific (Z-/E- specific) synthesis of BBPs containing functionality at the side arms by using (arylimido)vanadium-alkylidene catalysts. The resultant polymers exhibit unique emission, and the detail will be introduced in the symposium.
