Supported catalysts are widely used as solid catalysts, but most of the supports are the most stable metal oxides, and low-valent metal oxides have rarely been used as supports. Therefore, we tried to support molybdenum oxide by using Ti2O3, a low-valent titanium oxide, as a support. The synthesized MoO2/Ti2O3 catalyst showed high activity in the Friedel-Crafts reaction of anisole and benzyl chloride.
