Ammonia methanation, which synthesizes methane from carbon dioxide and ammonia, has the advantage that it generates little heat and can be used in an adiabatic reactor, and that carbon dioxide generated domestically can be converted domestically. The ammonia methanation reaction proceeds through a hybrid catalyst consisting of an ammonia decomposition catalyst and a methane synthesis catalyst. In this study, it is reported that a methane yield of over 95% is achieved by improving the performance of the ammonia decomposition catalyst.
