Membrane separation is more energy-efficient than distillation. We are investigating the separation process of non-polar organic solvent mixtures by membrane-based method. Perfluoropolymers possess fluorine-derived chemical and thermal stability, as well as hydrophobicity and exhibit high durability against organic solvents. In this work, we have developed organic solvent reverse osmosis (OSRO) membranes using perfluoropolymers and evaluated their potential as a separation technology for applications such as petroleum refining processes.
