In this study, the montmorillonite clay having acid treatment (MMT K10), which enhances its surface area and makes it an attractive material as support for a zirconocene/MAO catalyst for ethylene polymerization was investigated. The comparative study with different supports such as MMT K10 and the the untreated montmorillonite clay (MMT) was conducted for a zirconocene/MAO catalyst via polymerization of ethylene under slurry polymerization using toluene as solvent medium. The reaction was performed in a semi-batch autoclave reactor under adiabatic conditions. The obtained polymer was recorded to calculate the catalytic activity and was also characterized using various techniques, including SEM-EDX, XRD, IR, and DSC, which will be discussed in more detail. The effect of acid treated montmorillonite clay on ethylene polymerization behaviors will be also elucidated.
