Chemical recycling of waste plastics to their starting monomers has attracted attention. Previous reports on the catalytic decomposition of polyolefins which account for 60 % of waste plastics have often been conducted with supported metal catalysts and under high-temperature conditions. In this study, hydrogenolysis of polyolefins using an HMFI catalyst was successfully conducted to selectively produce lower hydrocarbons at 280℃ .The reaction mechanism of polypropylene hydrogenolysis was also investigated using operando spectroscopy.
