我々はこれまで、黒鉛と金属塩化物の混合物を高温高圧の塩素雰囲気下で熱処理することにより黒鉛層間に金属塩化物を挿入できること、熱処理後に水素還元を行うことでナノサイズの金属微粒子を黒鉛層間に挿入した黒鉛層間化合物が得られることを示してきた。本研究では、黒鉛とヘキサクロロイリジウム(Ⅳ)酸水和物を用いて黒鉛層間に二次元状の金属イリジウム微粒子を合成した。
