The synthesis of asymmetric organic carbonates has widely been achieved via the transesterification between alcohols and dialkyl carbonates thus far. Here, we report that asymmetric organic carbonates can be directly synthesized from CO2 and two alcohols over a CeO2 catalyst in the presence of 2-cyanopyridine dehydrant. The selectivity of target asymmetric carbonates was regulated by the molar ratio of methanol to another alcohol substance.
