In the era of digital transformation, kinetic modeling, often considered classical, we believe its true potential should be re-evaluated now. This lecture introduces how this "old yet new" approach can elucidate reaction rate-determining steps and process bottlenecks across scales, from the nano-level to bench-scale reactors, thereby contributing to process understanding and design. We will discuss the pivotal role of fundamental kinetic analysis in accelerating the development of sustainable, next-generation processes that face different challenges from traditional petrochemical approaches, driving innovation and creating new value.
