In order to improve the profitability of refineries, the selection of crude oil has become more diverse, and crude oil containing mercury is increasingly being processed. Currently, more than 20 mercury removal units are operating smoothly in Japan. Currently, 8K high-definition images are being used in the medical field as teaching materials and in the broadcasting industry. We have recently developed a concept for a safety monitoring device for mercury removal units by combining 8K images with infrared and other sensors, and we report on this development.
