Dry reforming of methane is one of the key reactions for achieving a carbon neutral society as it converts two potential greenhouse gases, carbon dioxide and methane, into syngas. However, catalyst deactivation due to carbon deposition remains a major barrier to its industrial application. In this study, we focus on an unsteady-state operation in which feed components are alternately supplied to a catalyst reactor to suppress carbon deposition. Microwave-assisted temperature swing is employed to minimize energy loss associated with the frequent temperature change and to further improve the reaction efficiency.
