Ethanol synthesis via CO2 hydrogenation is a promising approach for converting CO2 into value-added chemicals. However, improving ethanol selectivity and catalyst stability remains a challenge. Our group previously demonstrated that a Rh–MoOx catalyst enables ethanol production from CO2. In this study, we investigated the effect of alkali metal additives on the selectivity of supported Rh–MoOx catalysts. The results revealed that the addition of alkali metals, particularly lithium and sodium, significantly enhanced ethanol selectivity. These findings suggest that alkali metal modification is a promising strategy for improving catalyst performance in CO2 hydrogenation to ethanol.
