API 579 is a standard that prescribes Fitness-for-Service (FFS) assessment methods for a wide range of damage mechanisms. Part 10 addresses creep assessment and, in addition to the Larson–Miller Parameter (LMP) method widely used in Japan, incorporates the Omega (Ω) method, which enables direct estimation of creep strain and can be applied even when test data are limited. Because applications of the Omega method in Japan are still limited, this study conducted case studies using the Omega method in accordance with the latest edition of API 579 and compared and summarized the differences from the LMP method. Furthermore, we examined a remaining-life evaluation procedure using the Omega method based on rupture test data from in-service samples and outlined considerations for practical implementation.
