In this study, a novel method was developed to prepare zeolite-encapsulated Pt catalysts with metal nanoparticles located near the external surface. Pt/MFI was modified with APTMS to form a SiO2–Al2O3 layer around Pt particles, followed by dry-gel conversion into a zeolite structure. This approach effectively suppressed Pt aggregation and improved sintering resistance. The resulting Pt@MFI catalyst showed higher initial activity and better stability in ethane dehydrogenation compared to conventional Pt/MFI. TEM analysis confirmed that Pt particle growth was minimized after reaction, demonstrating the effectiveness of this method for designing durable zeolite-supported metal catalysts.
