As the growing demand for low-cost hydrogen sources to realize a decarbonized society, the commercial potential of "Natural / Geologic Hydrogen"—hydrogen generated naturally underground—is drawing significant global attention. This presentation outlines the fundamental concepts of natural hydrogen, including its genesis (e.g., water-rock interactions) and requisite geological conditions, alongside an overview of recent global exploration trends. Specifically, we focus on the applicability of the "petroleum system" concept and established E&P technologies to natural hydrogen exploration, discussing its potential and future technical challenges.
