Over the past 170 years, petroleum development technologies have been continuously refined and advanced. With the ongoing energy transition, these technologies are expected to evolve beyond oil and natural gas development and serve as fundamental technologies supporting subsurface applications for a decarbonized society, including geological CO2 storage and subsurface hydrogen production and storage. This presentation will discuss the emerging role of petroleum development technologies in achieving a decarbonized society and introduce the speaker's latest research aimed at realizing this vision.
