The production of formic acid (FA)—a promising hydrogen carrier—from renewable biomass resources has attracted growing attention, yet the conventional FA process relies
on fossil-derived feedstocks and carries a substantial environmental burden. In this study,we investigated the oxidation of glucose under oxidant-free conditions using water-insoluble metal oxides and perovskite-type oxides as catalysts. As a result, we found that the product selectivity over the perovskite-type oxides varied with the B-site metal, demonstrating that the reaction pathway can be controlled through catalyst design.
