he National Institute of Informatics (NII) is currently advancing research on ‘AI Ethics for AI Research’. Since 2016, and particularly following the proliferation of generative AI at the end of 2022, the risks of AI and responsibilities in its societal implementation have been subject to international debate. As AI researchers are required to conduct research and development informed by the latest AI ethics, this study surveyed NII's AI researchers regarding their awareness of AI ethics and their support needs.
