Prior to the structure analysis by in situ NMR for magnetically oriented cellulose microcrystals, I performed theoretical simulations of the NMR spectra that could be observed when assuming the orientation under a static magnetic field. It was found that the shape of resonance peaks in a static magnetic field orientation is more complicated for cellulose crystals assuming a twisted structure around the fiber axis (|| χ3 axis) than for crystals without such a twisted structure. It is expected that the spectra obtained by in situ NMR for magnetically oriented crystals will provide useful information on the presence and degree of torsion.
