Silicon nanoparticles, which are highly refractive dielectrics, can induce a large enhanced magnetic field at light frequency in the vicinity of the particle due to magnetic Mie resonance mode.
As a way to demonstrate and utilize such optical magnetic field enhancement, a technique to significantly enhance the magnetic dipole transition rate, which has been neglected in the past, has attracted much attention. In this study, we demonstrate the enhancement effect of light-matter interaction by magnetic Mie resonance in silicon nanoparticles using Eu3+, which exhibits electric and magnetic dipole emission, as a probe.
